What will I do?

People in the hospitality and tourism field work in hotels, resorts, cruise ships, and theme parks. There are many jobs in the hospitality industry: maids, laundry attendants, maintenance staff, sales, restaurant servers, bartenders, cooks, dishwashers, grounds crew, and more.

With a certificate or a degree, you will probably start out working at the front desk of a hotel.

What classes will I take?

You will take classes in a wide variety of topics: computers, accounting, marketing, and customer service.

What skills do I need to start school?

You will need to be patient and detail oriented. You will need to be able to do basic math.

Hotels are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so you might have to work overnights, holidays, and weekends. Working in the hospitality industry can be very stressful, because guests will get mad and yell at you.
