What will I do?

You will deal with network hardware systems analysis, planning and implementation. You will gain the necessary skills to design, build and maintain small to medium size networks and manage network hardware systems.

These classes will prepare you to pass the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification test.

You will take classes in Cisco networking hardware.

What skills do I need to start school?

You will need basic math and communication skills. You will need to be detail oriented. You will need to like solving problems.

What can I do with a certificate?

You can work for a company installing networking systems for other business.

How long does it take to complete a certificate?

It typically takes one year to complete.

What are the next steps in a pathway?

You can add other networking or programming certifications.  You can earn a certificate in compute repair technology. Or you can work towards an Associate’s Degree in Electronic Engineering or Information Technology.

What can I do with an associate’s degree?

You will learn how to design, install, and maintain network software systems. You will be prepared to take several industry certification exams.

What can I do with a bachelor’s degree?

There are many related bachelor’s degrees you can pursue, including cyber security, information technology, and computer science.

What are some challenges?

You will spend much of your day sitting behind a desk working alone, some people find this boring. If you are physically installing network, you may find yourself crawling around the floor installing computer cables or climbing ladders to plug things in.

How easy will it be to get a job?

Jobs in this field are growing. There are many high paid jobs available to people with just a certificate in the field.
